Ministry of Textiles has recently released a quality control order for the registration of Cotton Bales as per IS 12171: 2019. The order shall be implemented from 27th August 2023. The said product shall bear the BIS standard mark as per scheme II of schedule II under the license of Bureau of Indian Standard.
The standard 12171: 2019 has been revised with the addition of following requirements:
- Requirement of certain quality parameters have been made mandatory in the marking clause; and
- Requirement for material used for packaging has been modified
