New circular No. CPSO-100223-07 – Enterprise Singapore ( ESG ) announced revision of classification of the multi-way adaptor as a Controlled Good on 10th of February, regulated under the Consumer Protection (Safety Requirements) Regulations, to include products with odd-shaped/design.
The purpose of this circular is to provide clarification regarding the types of products which are classified as shown below:
Multiway adaptors under the Consumer Protection (Safety Requirements) Regulations (CPSR).
Multi-way adaptors are defined under the CPSR as adaptors which are intended for household use, having more than one set of socket contacts and which may or may not be of the same type or rating as the plug pin portion.
New circular which is effective from 11 Feb 2024 will be applicable for all multi-way adaptors regardless of shape/design will have to have a valid Safety Mark before selling it in Singapore market. Grace period of 1 year is to provide time for registered supplier to send the existing product(s) for testing, certification, and affixing with a valid Safety Mark.
