CPCB has activated the Portal of E-waste recycler under E-waste management rule 2022. Along with it, detailed SOP has been released by CPCB for registration of recycler under E-waste rule.
Definition of Recycler as per E-waste management rule 2022:
Any person or entity who is engaged in recycling and reprocessing of waste electrical and electronic equipment or assemblies or their components or their parts for recovery of precious, semi-precious metals including rare earth elements and other useful recoverable materials to strengthened the secondary sourced materials and having facilities as elaborated in the guidelines of the Central Pollution Control Board.
Following are the key points from SOP of E-waste recycler registration.
i)Recycler has to create portal under their company name by submitting requisite information and documents as per the SOP.
ii)Timeline of issuing registration certificate by CPCB is 30 working days from the date of submitting application in portal.
iii)Registration certificate will be valid for 5 years from the date of registration.
iv)Physical or virtual inspection of recycling unit shall be held by state or central SPCB/ CPCB committee within three month of registration for verification of details submitted during the application submission.
v)Registered manufacturers, refurbisher, producers in the portal must not deal with unregistered recycler or vice versa.
