IS 1293: 2005 for Plugs and Socket-Outlets for Household and Similar Purposes of Rated Voltage up to and Including 250 Volt and Rated Current up to and Including 16 A is under mandatory BIS Certification as per ISI scheme.
The said standard was revised in 2019 and hence updated to new standard as IS 1293: 2019. Since, as of now, both old and new standard IS 1292:2005 & IS 1293:2019 are active. However, post 23rd Oct 2023, IS 1293:2005 will not be active anymore and revised standard of 2019 will be in force post 23rd Oct 2023.
Hence, it is a thumbs up to all the manufacturers to consider using new standard certified plug and sockets only for the import and sale in Indian market.
