Central govt has amended following rules in the Battery waste Management (Amendment) Rule 2023 in the interest of Producers and recyclers.
1)New definition of Battery: Battery means new or refurbished cell or Battery, including accumulator, which is any source of electrical energy generated by direct conversion of chemical energy and includes disposable primary or secondary battery.
2) The CPCB on registration of the Producer shall issue a certificate of registration to Producer which shall be valid until it is cancelled or withdrawn.
3)Producer shall have the obligation to take EPR for self-use.
4)The recycling targets for electric vehicle of three wheeler has been included in the amendment rule.
