Jordan’s Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) has issued new Type Approval Instructions for telecommunications equipment, scheduled from September 15, 2024.

These updated instructions are designed to ensure that all telecommunications products entering the Jordanian market meet the latest safety, technical, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) standards.

Key highlights of the new instructions include:

Certificate Validity Period: The validity of Type Approval certificates has been reduced from previous durations to 1 year.

Test Report Requirements: All test reports submitted with Type Approval applications must now be issued by laboratories accredited by ILAC (International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation).

Modification Applications: Any changes to a product’s brand, product description, manufacturer name, or certificate holder name will require a modification application to TRC.

However, changes to the model number or technical specifications will require a completely new Type Approval application.

Exempted Products: Some products are exempt from mandatory Type Approval but may be approved voluntarily.

Labelling Requirements: Products must display critical information, such as the Manufacturer Name, Brand, Model, Marketing Name, and IMEI
