ANATEL has officially authorized the use of the 802.11be nomenclature in Brazil, allowing devices equipped with WIFI 7 technology to prominently feature this designation on their Certificate of Conformity.
This decision follows the IEEE’s recent approval of the draft standard for 802.11be.
Earlier, while ANATEL permitted the testing of WIFI 7 products, manufacturers were not allowed to explicitly list “WIFI 7” or “802.11be” on certification documents. Instead, compliance documentation was required to use alternative descriptions, such as Modulation + BW (for example, OFDMA 320MHz), to detail the technology.
With this new update, manufacturers can now clearly identify 802.11be, improving alignment with international standards and simplifying the process for market entry.
The testing protocols for WIFI 7 in Brazil are detailed in ANATEL Act 14448, specifically in item 11.7. These requirements are consistent with those established for WIFI 6E, ensuring a streamlined approach to compliance for manufacturers.
