Spectrum Sharing in the Asia-Pacific: Driving Connectivity and Innovation

On October 2,2024 The Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT) of Mexico has indeed approved key modifications to two important sets of guidelines:

1) The Guidelines for the Approval of Telecommunications and

2) Broadcasting Products and the Guidelines for the Use of the IFT Seal on Approved Products.

These changes are designed to enhance the clarity of product approvals and ensure that consumers can easily identify compliant telecommunications and broadcasting products.

Starting July 1, 2025, it will become mandatory for all IFT-approved telecommunications devices to display the IFT Seal. This seal can either be physically printed, digitally marked, or included in product manuals, making it easier for users to recognize compliant devices. Additionally, the new rules allow flexibility for manufacturers in how they present this labeling while maintaining high standards for visibility and legibility.

The revised guidelines reflect the IFT’s ongoing commitment to promoting transparency and improving consumer protection in Mexico’s telecommunications sector.

For manufacturers and importers, it’s important to note that these updates do include significant changes to labeling and product marking requirements, but they do not involve modifications to spectrum bands or HS code imports .
