Vietnam’s Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) has issued QCVN 134:2024/BTTTT, a new Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) regulation that applies to various handheld electronic products. This regulation will impact type approval, market access, imports, customs, and compliance requirements for affected devices.
Key Affected Products:
✅ Mobile Phones (4G & 5G) – HS Codes 8517.13.00 & 8517.14.00
✅ DECT Phones – HS Code 8517.11.00
✅ Laptops & Portable Computers – HS Code 8471.30.20
✅ Tablets – HS Code 8471.30.90
Implementation Timeline:
📅 February 15, 2025 – Testing, certification, and declaration of conformity for SAR compliance begins.
📅 July 1, 2026 – All terrestrial mobile phones must comply with QCVN 134:2024/BTTTT before market circulation.
📅 July 1, 2027 – Full compliance required for all products covered under this regulation to be legally sold in Vietnam.
