The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has initiated a public consultation, opened on April 2, 2025, to gather stakeholder input on its preliminary views regarding the future use of radiofrequency spectrum currently governed by expiring spectrum licences (ESLs).
This consultation is a key step in determining how these spectrum bands—critical for various wireless communications services—should be planned, allocated, or re-licensed in the coming years. ACMA is particularly interested in feedback from industry stakeholders, including license holders, equipment manufacturers, and service providers, to help shape spectrum management strategies that align with emerging technologies and future demand.
The consultation is open for public comment until June 25, 2025, and can be accessed here at ACMA Public Consultation
