New Mandatory Regulations for E-Micromobility Devices and Batteries in NSW

The New South Wales (NSW) Government has introduced sweeping safety regulations targeting e-micromobility devices and their lithium-ion power sources. In response to rising fire incidents, this pioneering legislation classifies e-bikes, e-scooters, hoverboards, e-skateboards, and their associated batteries and chargers as “declared electrical articles” under the Gas & Electricity (Consumer Safety) Act 2017 NSW Government+1.
