Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE): Revised Star Rating of Deep Freezer

The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) has issued a new advisory for all manufacturers and permittees of Deep Freezers under the Standards & Labeling (S&L) program.

This advisory outlines key updates to the star rating table, validity timelines, and application requirements for both existing and new product registrations, ensuring continued compliance and smooth transition into the new standard period.

(Deep Freezer, 25th Sept 2025)

 The notification establishes a new rating cycle and implementation framework designed to promote consistent energy performance standards across the industry.

  • New standards effective: 1st January 2026 to 31st December 2028

  • Expiry of old labels: All existing star labels will expire on 31st December 2025

  • Valid labels from 2026: Only new standard-compliant labels will remain valid from 1st January 2026

  • Application deadline: 8th December 2025

Key Action for Manufacturers

Apply for continuation of existing models before 8th December 2025 and ensure all new registrations comply with revised standards effective 1st January 2026.
