FLASH NEWS FROM C-PRAV INDIA  !!!

Lower 6GHz band (5925 to 6425 MHz) Gazette is now published by WPC and is open in India under de-licensed category. Wireless devices supporting this band can apply for WPC ETA.

This debate between the Carriers and Commercial technology suppliers for licensing or un-licensing these bands have been going on since 2021. Finally, DoT has released the much-awaited WPC G.S.R.47(E) dated 20th January 2026 for “use of low power and very low power Wireless Access System including Radio Local Area Network in lower 6 GHz band” (Exemption from licensing) effective from the date of publication.

For low power indoor devices, power limit of 30 dBm max e.i.r.p and for very low power outdoor devices 14dBm max e.i.r.p for in band emissions is allowed/accepted.

Indoor use is prohibited on Land vehicles (cars, trains) and any use with drones & UAEs. Devices operating in these bands must employ a contention-based protocol.

There are other requirements like OBE, PSD, only have in-built & integrated antenna and possibly RF exposure compliance with international standards.
