On September 18, 2024, Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Information (KOMINFO) released PERMEN KOMINFO No. 5 of 2024, which details the criteria for identifying MRA and Non-MRA testing laboratories for the certification of telecommunications equipment.

Foreign laboratories that were previously accredited must apply to the Directorate General of Resources and Equipment for Post and Information Technology (SDPPI) by November 1, 2024, to be officially recognized as SDPPI labs under the non-MRA scheme.

SDPPI provided further instructions regarding upcoming MRA procedures:

SDPPI sent emails to all recognized labs through the PiC email addresses registered with SDPPI; however, some emails were undeliverable. Accredited labs should verify if they have received an email from SDPPI.

Overseas labs (BULN) must complete re-registration by November 1, 2024.

Non-MRA labs will continue to be recognized until December 2026, after which MRA certification will be required. Non-MRA labs will still be recognized but must undergo the non-MRA application process.

MRA evaluations will occur every two years, local labs (BUDN) will be evaluated every five years, and overseas labs (BULN) will undergo evaluations every six months.

The existing regulation governing the non-MRA recognition process is the Director General of SDPPI Decree No. 109 of 2024. This decree came into effect on April 1, 2024, and will remain valid until December 31, 2024.
