SIRIM Certification is all about ensuring products meet standards in Malaysia. It’s handled by SIRIM QAS International Sdn. Bhd., which is a main certification, inspection, and testing body in Malaysia. They’ve been at it since March 1997, building on over thirty years of experience from their parent company, SIRIM Berhad.
If a manufacturer or business wants their product certified, they can turn to SIRIM QAS International. They accept products made according to Malaysian Standards, International Standards, or even foreign national standards.

Updates in SIRIM Certification Procedure

Annual Verification: It’s now essential to check the validity of the SIRIM certificate annually. While the certificate is valid for five years, regular verification ensures continued compliance.
Acceptance of Test Results: According to the new guidelines, only test results from accredited facilities, such as Moore’s laboratory, with an issue date of less than five years, will be accepted for certification purposes.
Re-certification for Older Technologies: If a technology certified by SIRIM over five years ago is to be reintroduced into the Malaysian market, it must be re-evaluated. The technology should be sent back to a certified facility for examination, and a new SIRIM certification request must be submitted, as the original certification will no longer be valid.
Product Screening Options: Products can be screened either through an accredited laboratory or by converting a CB test report and certificate into a SIRIM certification during the application process in Malaysia.
Submission of Testing Materials: Although resubmitting materials for testing is generally not required, SIRIM may request additional tests to confirm that the samples initially analyzed match those currently being submitted. This ensures consistency and accuracy in the certification process.
