Producers registered under E-waste (Management) Rules, 2022, to fulfil their assigned EPR obligations

CPCB in vide notification no. CP/14/2024-WM-III-HO-CPCB-HO dated January 29th, 2024, has hereby notified, and directed to all producers to fulfil their assigned Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) obligations for the financial year 2023-2024 through the purchase of an equivalent of EPR certificates via registered recyclers by March 31st, 2024.  
 

Key Notes: 

  • Producers are to submit their quarterly and annual reports over E-waste portal.  
  • EPR portal has provision for producers to upload the purchase demand to registered recyclers. 
  • CPCB will not entertain any request regarding revision/ reduction of their EPR obligations. 
  • CPCB has conveyed that no representation on the extension of timeline for the fulfilment of EPR obligations, will be considered.  
  • Necessary action as per the rules will be initiated against non-complying entities.
