AS/NZS 62368.1:2026 Officially Published by Standards Australia

The AS/NZS 62368.1:2026 has officially been published by Standards Australia on the 6th March 2026. This standard specifies safety requirements for audio/video, information and communication technology equipment, and continues to adopt a hazard-based safety engineering (HBSE) approach.

This standard supersedes the previous standard AS/NZS 62368.1:2022, however AS/NZS 62368.1:2022 will still remain current for 3 years until 6th March 2029. 

Key Changes in the AS/NZS 62368.1:2026

The new edition adopts IEC 62368-1:2023 (Edition 4.0) with Australian and New Zealand national variations, including differences relevant for certification under the IECEE CB Scheme. This fourth edition cancels and replaces the third edition published in 2018. This edition constitutes a technical revision. 

The following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: 

  1. New requirements for external circuits
  2. Revised requirements for openings in fire enclosures
  3. Updated requirements for liquid-filled components
  4. Revised battery charging requirements
