The National Centre for Communication Security (NCCS) has issued a notification extending the exemption from mandatory security certification for certain telecom equipment.
This update applies specifically to cloud-implemented IP routers and Wi-Fi Customer Premises Equipment (CPEs) through cloud-based infrastructures. These products will continue to be exempt from mandatory security testing and certification during the extended period.
Extension of Exemption Timeline
The exemption from security certification, which was previously valid until 31 March 2026, has now been extended to 31 August 2026.
This extension is a continuation of the earlier NCCS notification dated 7 July 2025, which initially granted the exemption for these product categories. The extension provides additional time for stakeholders, including OEMs, importers, and applicants, to prepare for future compliance requirements.
