The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has officially released an update to the Indian Standard for digital television receivers. The standard, IS 18112:2022, has now been revised to IS 18112:2025, and all television manufacturers must take note of the key changes and updated compliance timelines.

🛠️ Key BIS Guidelines for Manufacturers
- Applicability: All TV sets (Plasma, LCD, LED) must comply with both IS 18112 and the safety standards IS 616:2017 / IEC 60065:2014.
- Licensing:
- Existing licensees must update their licenses to reflect IS 18112 compliance.
- From October 2025, only applications aligned with IS 18112:2025 will be accepted.
- Licenses not upgraded in time may face cancellation.
- Standard Mark Usage: A single license number will now be used for both IS 616/IEC 60065 and IS 18112.
