The Republic of Serbia has incorporated three EU Directives into its legislation: the EMC Directive (2004/108/EC), the LVD Directive (2006/95/EC), and the R&TTE Directive (1999/5/EC).
For products covered by these directives, a national Certificate of Conformity (CoC) must be issued. Applications for conformity assessment can only be submitted by authorized local representatives.
Importers or foreign manufacturers must obtain a Certificate of Conformity (CoC) from a notified body in Serbia before their products can be sold within the country. The Serbian certification bodies assign mandatory proof of conformity for electrical product imports, primarily relying on relevant CE guidelines. Serbian CoC and marking are mandatory for all electrical products. CE-related test reports and certificates are accepted as proof of compliance. In the absence of such reports or certificates, testing must be conducted.
Serbia has two Conformity Assessment Bodies authorized to issue R&TTE CoCs:
For radio type approval, only an R&TTE CoC is necessary as it encompasses EMC, LVD, and R&TTE directives. Separate EMC and LVD safety approvals are not needed for these devices.
All approvals (EMC, LVD, R&TTE) are valid for three years and do not require sample submissions or in-country testing.
The National Certification Body is authorized to issue EMC and Safety approvals. Anyone can submit an application for renewal, not just the original CoC bearer. Only the Declaration of Conformity (DoC) is required. A new CoC will be issued with a new number, valid for three years.
Though, Some devices require an R&TTE CoC. Even if they have valid EMC and/or Safety CoCs, these cannot be renewed without applying for an R&TTE CoC from either the Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications or the National Certification Body.
Both the Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and the National Certification Body can issue R&TTE CoCs. Applications for renewal can be submitted to either body, regardless of who issued the original CoC. A new CoC will be issued with a new number, valid for three years.
The Serbian conformity mark “Triple A” is mandatory on the product, if possible, or on the product’s plate, packaging, or accompanying documentation (user manual, warranty, etc.).
The mark must be black and at least 5 mm tall. The first box in the mark contains the unique identification number of the CAB (Serbian Cyrillic letter “И” followed by 005 for Kvalitet or 011 for Ratel). The second box should display the last two digits of the year the certificate was issued.
