BIS has conducted a consultation meeting dated 15th Dec with industry members, OEM, laboratories and manufacturers on the topic “Parallel Testing”.
In the discussion with various stakeholders, BIS has given an update on the number of applications submitted as per the parallel testing process. As per the date, 5% of the applications were submitted via parallel testing procedure. Interestingly, 0 application has been submitted for Mobile Phone.
Following two common recommendations have been concluded at the end of the meeting:
- To add more product categories under parallel testing method. Currently following product categories are notified, Mobile Phone, Wireless earbuds & headphones and Laptop/notebook/tablet.
- To make parallel testing a permanent method as currently the process is voluntary in nature.
