India DGFT Notification on Import Restriction

In the vide notification 13/ 2024-25 of Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) on May 20th, 2024, the amendments in FTP, 2023 and in Schedule-I of ITC HS, 2022 has been notified. The centre has re-specified that import of second-hand products, whether or not refurbished, repaired or reconditioned, notified under the Electronics and Information Technology Goods (Requirement of Compulsory Registration) Order, 2021, is prohibited unless they are registered with BIS and comply with the labelling requirement published by BIS.  

For LED products as notified under the Electronics and Information Technology Goods (Requirement of Compulsory Registration) Order, 2021, samples will be picked on random basis from randomly selected consignments and will be sent to BIS recognized labs for testing to check whether or not product is compliant to the standard for the defined parameters.  

These amendments have been notified in the light of re-notification of Electronics and Information Technology Goods (Requirement of Compulsory Registration) Order, 2012 as Electronics and Information Technology Goods (Requirement of Compulsory Registration) Order, 2021.
