The National Centre for Communication Security (NCCS) has issued a significant update for manufacturers, importers, and users of Optical Network Terminal (ONT) devices. As of August 1, 2024, applications for Voluntary Security Certification (VSC) of ONT devices can now be submitted.
Key Points:
- Category 1: ONT models not yet certified under the TEC Essential Requirements (ERs) must obtain mandatory certification under the ComSec scheme starting February 1, 2025. Until then, these products can be certified under the VSC.
- Category 2: ONT models already certified under TEC ERs will require mandatory ComSec certification from April 1, 2025, with interim VSC certification available.
Note: No administrative fees or Security Test Evaluation Fees will be levied during the VSC period.
