The China Quality Certification Center (CQC) has announced updates to the national standards for CCC certification of household and similar equipment. These updates introduce new standards, transition timelines, and requirements for certificate conversion.
Key Updates:
New Standards:
- GB/T 4706.1-2024: General safety requirements for household and similar electrical appliances. Implementation date: August 1, 2026.
- GB 4343.1-2024: Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements, focusing on emissions. Implementation date: June 1, 2026.
Voluntary Transition Period:
Until the respective implementation dates, applicants can choose to certify products under the old or new standards.Mandatory Transition:
From the implementation dates onward, only certifications based on the new standards will be issued.Certificate Conversion:
- Existing certificates must be converted to comply with the new standards by July 31, 2027 (for GB/T 4706 series) and May 31, 2027 (for GB 4343.1).
- Certificates not converted by these dates will be suspended and eventually revoked.
Exceptions:
Products manufactured and placed on the market before the implementation dates, and no longer in production, do not require certificate conversion.Specific Product Changes:
- Evaporative Cooling Fans: Certification will follow GB/T 4706.115-2024.
- Portable Electromagnetic Cookers: Certification will follow GB/T 4706.14-2024.
Testing Laboratory Requirements:
Laboratories must report their testing capabilities for the new standards to the CQC.
