The Standard and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia (SIRIM) has announced new certification requirements for IPv6-enabled, non-Wi-Fi devices, effective July 11, 2025. To enhance network compatibility and security, a comprehensive IPv6 test report will now be mandatory for type approvals and renewals.
Key Updates (SQASI/CMCS/1/25/0001):
- Interim IPv6 approvals for non-Wi-Fi-enabled cellular devices and those using alternative mediums (e.g., fiber optics, excluding Ethernet LAN) expire on July 10, 2025.
- From July 11, 2025, an IPv6 test report will be required for full approval, with a validity of five years.
- Renewals of interim approvals will also require an IPv6 test report from an approved testing lab.
This update ensures compliance with Malaysia’s regulatory standards for network connectivity. Manufacturers should prepare accordingly to prevent approval delays.
