The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has announced an extension to the implementation timeline for the revised standard IS 302 (Part 1):2024 / IEC 60335-1:2020, which applies to adapters for household and similar electrical appliances.
The last date of implementation has now been extended by one year to the 23rd February 2027.
This decision provides manufacturers and licensees additional time to align their testing, documentation, and product certification processes with the updated requirements of IS 302 (Part 1):2024 / IEC 60335-1:2020.
Key Points of the Update
The extension affects all products covered under “Adapters for Household and Similar Electrical Appliances” that fall within the scope of IS 302 (Part 1). Other terms and conditions of Circular Ref IS 302 (Part 1) dated 27 November 2024 remain unchanged.
