1. Extension to the implementation of IS/IEC 60669-2-1 : 2021
The Registration Department of Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has decided to extend the date of implementation of IS/IEC 60669-2-1 : 2021 ‘Switches for Household and Similar Fixed Electrical Installations Part 2 Particular Requirements Section 1 Electronic Switches (First Revision)’ till 12th April 2025.
All licensees/applicants need to ensure the implementation of IS/IEC 60669-2-1 : 2021 before the last date of implementation.
2. Guidelines for implementation of Revised IS/IEC 60669-2-1 : 2021
a) For Existing licensees as per IS/IEC 60669-2-1 : 2008
i. Existing licensee shall submit the test reports of all the lead models as per IS/IEC 60669-2-1 : 2021 issued by BIS recognized laboratory for all the lead model(s) from existing scope of license.
ii. Further, the licensees shall provide an undertaking stating that requirements of IS/IEC 60669-2-1 : 2021 have been implemented in all other existing series model(s) which are in the scope of the license.
b) For New Applicants:
i. The existing applications which are under process as per IS/IEC 60669-2-1 : 2008 shall be processed with an undertaking applicant they shall changeover to the revised IS/IEC 60669-2-1 : 2021 before the last date of implementation.
ii. No new applications are to be accepted as per existing IS/IEC 60669-2-1 : 2008 after the date of implementation.
c) If the licensee fails to complete all actions by the date of implementation, the License / Application may be processed for cancellation/ deletion of model from scope of the license.
