Mandatory Transition to RSS-102 Issue 6 by 15th December 2024

Starting 15th December 2024, all radio equipment marketed or sold in Canada must comply with RSS-102 Issue 6, the updated standard for RF exposure requirements. This transition requires manufacturers to reassess their devices certified under Issue 5 to ensure compliance with the latest standards.

Key Updates Include:

  • Stricter SAR test exemption thresholds, requiring more devices to undergo testing.
  • New requirements for Total Exposure Ratio (TER) for multi-transmitter devices.
  • Enhanced RF exposure warnings and separation distances in documentation.

Non-compliance could result in market access issues, as all devices entering Canada post-deadline will undergo surveillance against the updated standard.
