The Department of Telecommunications (DoT), India, through the National Centre for Communication Security (NCCS), has officially extended the exemption from mandatory security certification for:
Cloud-implemented IP Routers
Cloud-based Wi-Fi CPEs
Originally valid until 31st May 2025, this exemption is now extended up to 31st March 2026. There have been various discussions on the challenges of testing Cloud connected devices in a lab environment. This extension is to find ways to resolve this issue. However, it is to be noted that all other (non-cloud based) Routers and Access points are subjected to mandatory type-approval currently. Such manufacturers cannot get full term TEC-MTCTE certification until both TEC and NCCS approvals are granted and will impact on importing and selling these devices in India.
At C-PRAV, we’re closely tracking such regulatory changes to support our partners and clients with timely insights and guidance.
