South Korea: Electromagnetic Compatibility Test Methods Revised Announcement No. 2025-50

In accordance with Article 4(3) of the Regulation on Conformity Assessment of Broadcasting and Communication Equipment, the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) test methods have been revised and are hereby officially announced.

General Provisions
Article 1 (Purpose)


The purpose of these test methods is to define the necessary procedures and standards for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing, as specified under Article 4(3) of the Regulation on Conformity Assessment of Broadcasting and Communication Equipment (hereinafter referred to as “Regulation”).

Article 2 (Scope of Application)
These test methods apply to all equipment subject to conformity assessment under Article 3 of the Regulation, with respect to EMC testing (hereinafter referred to as “conformity tests”).

Detailed Test Methods
Article 3 (General Test Methods)


The following Korean Standards (KS) shall be applied for measuring and testing electromagnetic interference (EMI) and immunity:

  • Measurement Instruments: KS C 9816-1-1:2022
  • Auxiliary Equipment for Conducted Interference: KS C 9816-1-2:2022
  • Auxiliary Equipment for Disturbance Power Measurements: KS C 9816-1-3:2022
  • Auxiliary Equipment for Radiated Interference: KS C 9816-1-4:2020
  • Antenna Calibration Test Site (30 MHz–1000 MHz): KS C 9816-1-5:2023
  • Conducted Interference Measurement: KS C 9816-2-1:2023
  • Disturbance Power Measurement: KS C 9816-2-2:2020
  • Radiated Interference Measurement: KS C 9816-2-3:2020
  • Immunity Measurement: KS C 9816-2-4:2017
  • Site Testing for Large Equipment Emissions: KS C 9816-2-5:2020

Enforcement Date:
These test methods take effect one month after the date of issuance (July 11, 2025).

Repeal of Previous Notices:
Earlier EMC test methods (e.g., 2014-91 and 2014-92) are repealed and replaced by this announcement.

Transitional Provisions:
Certain equipment categories may continue using previous standards until specified deadlines.
