Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has notified the establishment of revised Indian Standard relate to digital television receivers.
BIS has published the Indian Standard IS 18112:2025 Digital Television Receiver for Satellite Broadcast Transmission – Specification and indicated the respective date of enforcement including the withdrawal of the Indian Standard 18112 : 2022 – Digital Television Receiver for Satellite Broadcast Transmission — Specification.
As per the Gazette, the date of withdrawal of IS 18112: 2022 has been declared as December 30th , 2025.
This standard was first published in 2022. This revision has been brought out to provide further guidance to demonstrate compliance with this standard.
Major changes are as follows:
- Definitions based on IS 1885 (Part 24) : 2023 have been included;
- IS/IEC 62368-1 has been also referred for safety requirements;
- Annexure for abbreviations has been included;
- Power consumption requirement has been removed as Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) Regulations, notifications are taking care of this requirement for TV;
- Column (5) as Compliance Criteria and Test Method(s) has been included in Table 1 and Table 2 to provide further guidance related to procedures to demonstrate compliance to the requirements; and
- Editorial corrections have been incorporated.
Since the standard is notified under Compulsory Registration Order (CRO) under Phase VI, all TV manufacturers are required to comply with the revised and latest Indian standard IS 18112:2025 Digital Television Receiver for Satellite Broadcast Transmission – Specification following the Guidelines issued by BIS for Implementation of IS 18112 along with along with the safety requirements as per IS 616:2017/IEC 60065 : 2014.
