The Agência Nacional de Telecomunicações (ANATEL) update introduced under Ato No. 14158 is now in effect, bringing revised technical requirements for restricted radiation radiocommunication equipment.
Originally published on 1 October 2025, this Act updates existing regulatory frameworks by revising Ato No. 14448/2017 (technical requirements for conformity assessment) and Ato No. 237/2022 (test procedures). As of today, these updated requirements are actively applicable, with reinforcement mandatory from 6 April 2026.
Scope of the Updates
The revised requirements apply to a range of equipment operating under restricted radiation conditions, including devices in millimetre-wave frequency bands, wireless access systems within the 5.150–5.350 MHz band, and various audio, video, and data transmission systems. Updated test procedures also apply to broadband wireless access systems used in local area networks.
With the regulation already in force and the mandatory compliance date now in effect, this serves as a timely reminder for manufacturers and suppliers to ensure that their products meet the updated ANATEL requirements.
Products that fall within scope may require reassessment against the revised technical and testing criteria. Delays in addressing these updates could impact certification timelines and market access in Brazil.
Organisations should review their current product certifications and test reports to confirm alignment with Ato No. 14,158. Where gaps exist, early action is recommended to ensure continued compliance and avoid disruptions. To read the official documentation, access below.
