The TRA of Oman issues a directive regarding IoT services’ international roaming

  • Oman’s TRA, or telecommunications regulatory authority, recently issued a new directive regarding IoT devices’ international roaming.
  • The TRA has concentrated on the regulatory difficulties of global challenges for IoT device and consulted with significant parties in the telecommunications before issuing the directive.
  • IoT services that use international SIM cards will be allowed for a maximum of 90 days, according to the directive.
  • There are three main goals for the new directive: coordinating IoT devices’ international roaming, safeguarding beneficiaries’ personal information, and raising the security level of Internet of Things services.
  • As per the mandate, IoT device can be given international roaming by the supplier or importer either through local networks or by utilizing an temporary SIM/E-SIM from the licensee in the Sultanate of Oman.
