Central govt has amended following rules in the Plastic Waste Management Rule 2016 in the interest of PIBO(s) and recyclers.
1) New definition of “Carry bags’’: Bags made from plastic material or compostable plastic or biodegradable plastic, used for the purpose of carrying or dispensing, commodities, which have a self-carrying feature but do not include bags that constitute or form an integral part of the packaging in which goods are sealed prior to use.
2) New definition of “Producer”: Persons engaged in manufacture of plastic packaging.
3)Plastic packaging shall incorporate name and registration certificate number for producer or importer or brand owner generated through centralized online portal specified in Schedule II for plastic packaging.
4) Every producer or importer or brand-owner shall apply one –time registration make an application in Form I through the centralized online portal specified in Schedule II.
5)The annual filing of FY 22-23 has been extended from 31st Oct 23 to Nov 30th 23.
