The Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Informatics (SDPPI) has announced the release of a new regulation titled “KEPMEN KOMINFO No. 352 Tahun 2024.”
This regulation updates the technical standards for Long-Term Evolution (LTE) and 5G New Radio (NR) technologies.
This regulation specifies two main frequency ranges for 5G NR: Frequency Range 1 (FR1), which covers 410 MHz to 7125 MHz, and Frequency Range 2 (FR2), which spans from 24250 MHz to 52600 MHz. These ranges include both sub-6 GHz and millimetre-wave (mm Wave) bands.
Notable updates feature comprehensive details on Carrier Aggregation (CA) and Dual Connectivity (DC) modes.
Additionally, this regulation also introduces key technologies vital for advancing 5G networks. This includes:
- Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) for IoT applications
- Advanced modulation techniques such as QAM and QPSK
- Massive MIMO technology to enhance data throughput and spectrum efficiency.
