It’s been an exciting and fulfilling two weeks across Europe representing C-PRAV at three major compliance and EMC events — #REDCA in Prague, #EMCTLA, and the renowned EMC & Compliance International (#EMC&CI) at Oxford University, UK.
REDCA meeting – Prague, Czech Republic 13th to 15th May 2025 chaired by Holger Bentje
While I have been attending the USA’s TCB Council workshops since 2007, this was my first REDCA meeting.
Nick Hooper and team are masters in organising this event twice each year. More than 300 participants including online.
In the fabulous city of Prague, great presentations from Alexis Basiaux of EC, Lucio Cocciantelli from ADCO RED OFCOM, Michael Sharpe of ETSI, Ben Kokx from CENELEC, Steve Hayes and Michael Derby of Element presenting IEC/CISPR, various TGN updates, Ramona Saar, Richelieu Quoi, Nob Nakanishi, HIROyuki TOGASHI, Pieter Robben also presented. Majorly Focusing on the RED but the upcoming #CyberSecurity regulations was one of main topic of interest. Repeat message: ALL based on Manufacturers’ Risk assessment
🌍 EMCTLA- Oxford, UK
As a chair of Australian National EMC committee and my personal involvement in EMC IEC/CISPR standards for last 2 decades gave me a great opportunity to experience EMCTLA meeting. Loads of information and updates by the CISPR reps and liaison members. Many other presentations from MoD and also from MIC, Japan. Steve Hayes and Michael Derby do a great job holding the agenda together and steering the show.
Following are some highlights as a brief update mainly from MD and SH.
- RED OJ released last week
- ETSI EN 303446 – EMC of combined equipment – not to be used as it is not harmonised. MD sorting it out with ETSI

- Only EN301489-34 for common charger listed in EMC OJ. All other 301489 are very old and not to be used.
- EMC directive document for aftermarket vehicle products – new document dated Jan 2025 released see EC page under EMCD
- Guide for the EMCD in March 2025
- DoC local rep: Not required for SDoC but under the surveillance act 2019/1020 document it is required that the importer must be identified on label of the product or literature. Multiple importers need to sign multiple times unless a local agent can handle all the importers.
