SIRIM QAS International, the national certification body in Malaysia, has announced the extension of Interim Type Approval for equipment utilizing IPv6 and without a Wi-Fi interface effective from July 10, 2024.
This update is significant for manufacturers and importers of networking and telecommunications equipment, as it impacts the compliance and market access requirements for IPv6-enabled devices in Malaysia.
This extension impacts the validity of both new applications and renewals for Certificates of Conformity (CoC), which will now be limited to a maximum validity of one year.
During this time, applicants are required to perform testing in accredited or approved laboratories and submit the results to SIRIM for assessment.
Manufacturers and importers should review their product certifications and ensure ongoing compliance with the extended interim type approval. Compliance with IPv6 requirements is necessary for full approval
